The World's First 21,413 TEU Mega Vessel Unloaded at COSCO SHIPPING Port's Xiamen Ocean Gate Fully-automated Terminal

On 27th May, the launching ceremony for the inaugural voyage of OOCL HONG KONG, the world's first container vessel with a capacity exceed 21,000 TEU, was held at COSCO SHIPPING Ports' Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal. During the launching ceremony, Deputy Mayor Li Huiyue of Xiamen, Assistant Director Cao Haibo of Xiamen Municipal Free Trade Commission, Director General Wu Shunbin of Xiamen Port Authority, President Yuan Xiaoyu of COSCO SHIPPING Xiamen, Vice Chairman and Managing Director Zhang Wei of COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited, Board Director Yao Erxin of Orient Overseas Container Line (China) Co., Ltd. (OOCL), Vice President Chen Yipeng of Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal Co., Ltd., President Zhang Hao of OOCL Xiamen, and Zheng Yijun, representative of the terminal's "female work group" touched and lighted up a symbolic crystal ball together on the stage, as a witness to the official commencement of operation of the world's largest container vessel berthing at Xiamen Ocean Gate Fully-automated Terminal for the first time.

Controlled and managed by COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited, Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal is the first fully automated terminal in China, with world-leading proprietary intellectual property rights. It has comprehensive intelligent control of the entire terminal ¡V a way that is more accurate, higher efficient, cheaper and safer. Meanwhile, the terminal is furnished with electric equipments, which makes it the world's first terminal with no internal combustion engine-driven operations and a real pollution-free and zero-emission green terminal. The inaugural voyage marks the first berthing of the world's largest container vessel at Xiamen Port. It also sets a new record of China's first fully automated terminal undertakes the inaugural voyage operations of the largest container vessel in the world.
